About

Pushpalata  – meaning ‘a cluster of flowers’ – was founded by Priya in 1992 in her mother’s name to give a platform to her students, both Kathak and Odissi.  It was the first classical Indian dance company to be formed by dancers trained solely in the UK.

SADAA conserves, digitises, shares, and celebrates the work of first generation British South Asian artists, post-partition. We were originally set up to hold collections that would otherwise be lost, and we’re still collecting. This year, to celebrate our 25thbirthday, we’ve commissioned nine original works from writers, artists, and friends of SADAA, opening windows onto their lives, influences, and practice.
